To those that fear about the output power of this device, I would like to stress something.

I am running a Shanling M3X on “Balanced” output. It is supposed to have an output power of 240mW under 32 Ohm.

That Shanling M3X is powering Dan Clark Aeon Flow Closed headphones.
The impedance of those headphones is not super high (about 50 Ohm I think).
But their sensitivity is really poor (about 74dB/mW… which is LAME).

And the Shanling M3X can drive the Dan Clark at more than reasonable volume (meaning : pretty loud) in “High Gain” mode and at 70/100 level. Of course, headphones like the Sony MDR-Z7 or the Oppo PM-1 that I also own are driven effortlessly.

I think I has to be said that if you have a 1.2W amplifier, it will not play 4 times louder than a 300mW amplifier. So I think that the Hiby R6 Pro Gen 2 would probably be able to drive most of headphones, not only IEM’s…

But if I am wrong, please correct me…

Has to be FH9 which is much easier to drive! It is not recommended to put less sensitive loads on the R6 Pro II.

Quick question: I am looking to buy a new pair of IEM’s and was wondering which you would recommend to pair with this, between either the Fiio FH9 or the Tin HiFi P2 Plus?
I have been using the Sennheiser IE 800’s for the last few years but one of the buds has failed, thought about trying a planer IEM but I note that the P2 Plus has a resistance of 32 ohms so am not sure if the R6 Pro II will be adequately powered.

You will feel more weight focusing on the vocal / bass though with rock you may find the staging slightly more confined compared to the R6 III, yet it is more realistic and defined.

The difference in sound performance between the two is easily audible as the R6 Pro 2 sounds denser, more refined and definitive compared to the more exaggerated staging / easy-going tuning approach on the R6 III, which is also less resolving.

I will totally recommend the R6 Pro 2 over the R6 III with sensitive IEMs and as you can see, the R6 Pro 2 looks much sexier too!

Great review. Since you have tested this and the R6 III which to you like better- The R6 III or R6 Pro2?
I have the R6 III, but I love the new design of the Pro2. And I really like the absence of the annoying “hidden” volume knob that is on the III.
Do you think the sound impressions are far enough apart that I should get this one too or should I just tweak the R6 III’s MSEB depending on my IEMs to get what I need out of it?
I mainly listened to alt. rock, classic rock, classical, folk, blues and some electronic.
Thanks in advance.
Johnson

Hello Jon, the HiBy R6 Pro II is specifically engineered for sensitive IEMs, as reflected by its power ratings. However, the HD 660S2 has an impedance of 300 ohms and may not be the most suitable match for this DAP. To achieve optimal performance, it is recommended to use a desktop amplifier with these headphones.

Great review. Do you think this could drive the Sennheiser HD 660S2s?
