Various DAPs do have batteries that are replaceable–the Lotoo PAW 6000 comes to mind.

How was the M11’s gapless performance?

Yes the two balanced outputs work simultaneously!

Great review!! Now that the price has dropped, maybe is time to get a dap for the first time. But I have a question, and this is going to be a weird question, the 2.5 and 4.4 outputs can work at the same time? I would like to connect the 4.4 to my speaker amplifier and the 2.5 to my subwoofer.

Regards.

Whats wrong with 120/150?

With Analog Amps, you control the volume by limiting the output signal from the DAC (at least in DAPs).

That means you want an as high as possible Volume as this does have the highest sound quality.

120/150 results in way higher sound quality than 70/150, so this is a positive thing.

Unless it gets loud enopugh, there is no issue. The higher the volume, the better.

It is not officially certified, not sure any DAP actually is. However, it’s Android so you can use it as a roon endpoint and it’s a USB-DAC, and the driver should be picked up just fine by Roon. Qobuz works like it does on any Android device so no issues.

Thanks

The Kann Alpha is anything but powerful, unfortunately. It was the worst purchase I have ever made. It has remarkable voltage, so it will drive high impedence headphones. However it completely defaults on low ohm planars because, as measured by Hifi News, the output power is less than a humble Ifi Go Blu and on par with a BTR5, all devices weighing a few grams. With Dan Clark Audio Aeon RT the Alpha clipped quickly at 120 out 150 volume. Don’t do my same mistake: is just NOT powerful!

Kann Alpha is not as portable and the higher amping power pairs better with cans, with higher power the vocal has a sharper outline and the bass kicks fast, so you have to be careful with choice or IEMs to be matched. the output power is awesome though everything else is lacking in comparison.

M11 plus ESS is more balanced in sound and hardware design, there are more system features and UI response is much speedier. The THX module offers good headroom to sensitive IEMs and is more natural in tuning, while the gain/ power is sufficient to hold together clear imaging and transients, with decent control especially on All to DSD mode.
