By that line I meant the produce is not both a DAC and an amplifier in one unit.

Yes, that is normal at very high volumes with a tube amp and in this circuitry setup. It is not intended for the dial to be that high. This amp was brandished first as a pre amp and not a dedicated headphone amplifier, so using it solely as a headphone or speaker amp and not as a pre amp will result in that distortion.

I wonder, though, is your DX80 on high output mode? If so, try backing a step down to normal driving output, remove the high gain and see if that helps.

I use TA-26 with Cambridge Audio DacmagicPlus DAC and Takstar HF580 headphones with my PC as a sourse – so i hear distortions in high-mid and especially in high volume. Is this normal for such setup? (also i use ibasso dx 80 as a sourse and there are no distortions)

What a load of crock MGW. Source function means no decoding and you know that. A selector is not a source feature. Goodness.

Really, have you not heard of analogue amplifiers that have multiple inputs and therefore a source ‘function’ [selector]. My own, purely analogue, headphone amplifier has multiple inputs and therefore a source ‘function’ [selector].
There is a rather wide credibility gap in this review
