In reply to tk. According to iFi's owner's manual, it doesn't look like the optical/coax plug acts as an output, only an input.

Wow. Nice review. The optical out is a big deal to me. Despite its irritating bugs, I still love the sound of my Cayin N5ii and that it has coax out. I may now hold off buying a different portable DAC to see if I can find an open box or pre-owned Gryphon soon.
