Unfortunately, I do not have a WA6-SE, not in about 10 years when I had the non-SE edition I think. This one is quite, very black background, not as tubey as some other offerings but yet to personally hear the AE to say if a more neutral tube amp. One thing is the density and dynamic range of the low-end is excellent with this amp, and I use a Qutest so it is not too far off your Hugo 2 also.

I remember the ANV also, a lovely midrange on that so it should pair well I think with the HA-2SF.

Is it worth the upgrade? I’m using Hugo 2 as DAC and headphone of ATH-W3000ANV, Hifiman HE-500, HD650 and Alessandro Pro. Thanks for your advise

Will do, thank you Marcus!

I’m loving the LCD i4’s btw and I’m running them with an RME Babyface Pro FS that does double duty as my audio interface for music production and as a DAC/Headphone AMP, all on the go. As I have been on-the-go a lot more these days. A short demo of the WA8 in NYC put me in a bit of a spell and having tubes for my home set-up again would be amazing. I was emotionally more engaged with the Woo than the Chord Hugo 2. I really want something that knocks my socks off and keeps me engaged with my music, at home and when I’m traveling.

Hi, thanks for the feedback! I didn’t roll no as acquiring matching alternative tubes in my region is a pain so it’s an out-of-the-box review. And whilst not as warm as the previous edition I think it’s fairly tube sounding compared to solid-state alternatives. Let me know how you get along if you buy it :)

This amp is intriguing to me for sure. I’ve recently realized how much I want tubes to be part of my system again. I’ve got the LCD 2.2’s and recently got the LCD i4’s (your write up helped my decision to purchase them, so thank you). A Woo Audio WA8 is in my future for tube sound on the go.

I like that this updated version of the amp is more clear and dynamic. Did you roll any of the ECC82 tubes? Sorry if I missed that in your write-up. I think I’d still like my tube amp to be able to deliver at least some of that classic “warmer” sound when needed. This amp is so visually appealing and flexible with it’s I/O and impedence selector that it is really high on my list of amps in this price range.

Thanks :)

Hi Sam, I have yet to hear the Nirvana but from all accounts is an excellent tube amplifier. I do suggest pairing Auris tube amps with a clean DAC high in dynamics to maximize clarity.
