Thank you for sharing your experience and glad to know you found the review useful. I think this shows the experience of TinHiFi, but a lot of people do enjoy the S12 just as well. It certainly boils down to preference and expectations for most. Cheers!

I have the S12’s and absolutely love them. Most everything that has been said about them is true. However, my previous IEMs were the Thieaudio Legacy 4’s (1DD, 4BA). Every now and then, I will listen to those but it made me realize what’s missing on the S12’s- clarity. Not that they aren’t clear but their strength is in their resolution. Timbre, instrument placement…all there in buckets. But it is tuned to be a bit more fun than analytical, in my opinion.

The Legacy 4’s are certainly more neutral than the S12’s but as much as I really enjoy the 12’s, I just wish they were a tad more detailed. After reading your review, it certainly looks as if the P1 Max’s are a nice blend between all that planar-y space/detail/depth characteristics and the clarity and neutrality of the Legacy 4’s. I could be very wrong but I think P1 Max’s might be the “perfect” planar IEM for me. It is certainly on my very short list.

Again, thanks for the review and comparison.
