Thank you Marcus for your frankness, I think it’s a good choice I’ll try the experiment …

Bravo again for the site that I discovered a little while ago, the articles are fascinating.

Good continuation.
John

Thanks John for your kind feedback and glad you enjoyed the review. Depends on what you want to be emphasized in jass and Classical. Personally, I think it’s good for jazz and has the right timbre for smooth overtones. Classic I am not sure, only because I do not listen that much to classical to form an opinion either way.

Thank you for this great review :)

I was wondering if there this model could also work well with styles of music like Jazz and Classical, and if there would be a model in the same price range more suitable.

Moreover, on the manufacturer’s site I did not see any options for a 4.4 symmetrical output! This can be blocking when you do not have a 2.5 input and the cable cannot really be changed to a standard one. Otherwise you are stuck using the asymmetric in 3.5

Good job,
John

Hi Sean, unfortunately, I have not heard the JH16v2 so I can’t advise you if that is the better choice. However, the Layla is really built for power with those dynamic drivers and sounds complete to me when the bass is up rather than down. How that suits clarinet timbre I am not sure as I have never focused on that type of instrument when listening with Layla but it will sound rounded rather than clean. Sorry I cannot be of further help.

Very insightful review.
I am a DJ doing all genres and some ethnic music using the use of Bouzouki, Folk music with clarinet, top 40 etc…
I have been configuring JH audio Layla, JH16v2 and I wanted to say that given the cost of customization in their premium tab, Jolene just seems like excellent value considering the default shell and faceplate.
Already have ear models made and ready to send. Your input would be greatly obliged.
Regards,
Sean.

I’m very interested in how the Jolene and the Empire Ears X Legend compare, it seems to me that these are natural competitors.

Thanks!

Kevin
