I myself was set to buy the Odin, but before I dropped my cash, I decided to give the MEST a try figuring that if it was all hype I would just return them and get the Odin. Well, I ended up keeping the MEST. So although I still do not know what the Odin sounds like, I must say that for what I paid for the MEST on Black Friday, it was a steal…and I am quite happy. ..For the times I am in the mood for a ‘big’ slamming, rich, deep and tight base like when I’m in the mood for Metallica and such, I just grab my Campfire Audio Atlas…which are actually unbeatable for very specific sound-engineering. Still, maybe some time I may also try the Odin. I think I paid $1,200 for my Mest…and in truth, I simply can–not–believe how spectacular they sound for most of my extensive high-res library. In addition, I find that the MEST respond very well to EQ’ing….which makes them that much more dynamic. I still favor my ATLAS for many of my most favorite albums. Nothing comes close to doing what the ATLAS seems to do so long as the sound-engineering was meticulous. The one negative of the ATLAS is that they are quite selective relative to sound-engineering. The MEST…not so much. Only with the MEST was I finally able to FULLY appreciate my vast collection of movie / film soundtracks….which seem to be the most demanding on an IEM. I would imagine that the Odin would be even more staggeringly good for soundtracks. ….but the price. Over 3 grand is kind of bordering on ridiculous. Still, you only live once….and time is ticking! Thanks for the review.

“On the low-end, Empire Ears have used an improved W9+ 9mm dynamic subwoofer design over the original Weapon IX driver used in the likes of their Legend X and Valkyrie monitors. You get two of these bad boys in tandem for the sub-bass and bass response.”

Yup, it does :)
