In reply to kumatheinventive. Not at all. When you add more EQ, it doesn't respond to it. When you drop off EQ, it doesn't respond well to it. The stock flat EQ bass response quantity is lacking and sounds lopsided compared to the prominent mids and treble. This is not at all opinion based, this is objective and can be seen on the measurements too. Lacking BASS response is not quanity context only. It lacks power, it lacks impact and engaging factors that are enjoyable, it lacks density factor, it lacks interesting texture, and doesn't feel like a Planar bass type at all.

I regret that I bought these headphones, although they cost me only $250, but even that money they don’t feel worth it. The whole problem is the quality of the plastic and the design, which has not changed for many years. The fact is that these headphones are almost an exact copy of the old and cheap Edifier W830BT in design. The plastic hinges begin to creak very loudly after a short time. From a small impact, my headband also broke and a plastic part flew off. The sound quality is good, but not the best I’ve heard. The Audeze Maxwell went on sale later than the Stax S3, now all I have to do is wait until my S3 finally fail so I can buy something better. By the way, I heard that Sony bought the Audeze company, I’m waiting for planar headphones from Sony, at least with them the quality of materials will be fine.
