In the wireless settings under Bluetooth, there is a quality setting where you can opt for LDAC HQ as the preferred codec. In my experience, that’ll default whatever you pair to use the highest codec it supports. Combine that with Marcus’ suggestion and you should be good to go.

Hi Alex! That’s awesome news and I’m glad it resolves one of your main issues with the device. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll update when I can and let you know what I find. Won’t have the opportunity this weekend though.

When you complete your initial pairing try checking the settings cogwheel for the freebuds in your bt paired list to see if LDAC is activated.

Hello, just to inform you that Shanling has just released a new version of the firmware (version 2.0) which should solve the issue of the gapless playback. After a quick check, with both wired and wireless earphones, it seems to work properly now. Would be nice to have also your feedback. Have a great day.

Thanks a lot for your feedback and check! If I may suggest, it would be great if in the test you perform when reviewing a DAP, the gapless function should be taken into account especially when using Bluetooth connection. I definitely agree that when talking about HiFi the sound is what matter at the end, but if your music flow is suddenly interrupted, this does not help at all. :)

Hi Alex! Thanks for the feedback and note on gapless. I tested what you mentioned and yeah, I see what you mean. With my Astrotec S60 5.0 and Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless I hear a short pause, along with a slight pop of static before the next track kicks in. Also noticed a short pause when listening wired too, though it’s not as egregious. I can see this being a deal-breaker if you need truly gapless playback :( Love the device for the balanced out and have it with me every day, but it’s got a few quirks Shanling could stand to address.

Nevertheless, I would like to point your attention on the following issues for which it should be great to have your feedback. When the DAP is connected via Bluetooth to any of my head/earphones (i.e., Sennheiser Momentum 4, Sennheiser CX Plus True Wireless, or SoundPeats Q30 HD) the Gapless function does not work properly having (almost) always a sound interruption, even if very short. This is really a pity because my M0 Pro (now sold) was working properly with that and I usually listen progressive music in which Gapless is almost fundamental.
Thanks again for your effort and attention!
Best Regards,
Alex
