Hi Louis. Saying Ayyyyy to The Fonz is cool :) Talking about your bass EQ. What do you mean with awide and narrow Q? Can you maybe give me the numbers you used for Frequency, gain and Q in the bass department? Do you also EQ in the treble or not?

Happy days, Cheers Fonz

Hello Fonz, or shall I say Ayyyyyy? Anywho, I use a 2 to 4 decibel gain below 40Hz and a narrow Q because they do gradually dip beyond that point but are still audible just below 20Hz in a tone sweep test. So a wide Q wouldn’t work for me because that would disturb the midbass section and above 50Hz which is just right for my taste. These only need a subtle tweak below 40Hz to bring 20Hz up to the same level as 40Hz. They can take more but I like them there. So in short, the ones who say that the bass is suitable for EQ are in line with me. Thanks for chiming in.

Thanks for a great review. Talking about EQ. Is a bass shelf at the frequency of 21 with a gain of 2.2 (Q 0.3)not recommended? I ask this because I saw a lot of reviews that tell that the 1000 Unveiled is suitable for EQ especially in the bass department, so I was wondering what your opinion was. Should you EQ the 1000 in one of his regions or would you leave it the way it is? Looking forward to your answer. Cheer Fonz

Yeah was just wondering as I have replacement pads for an old HE1k V2 direct from HIFIMAN and the clips on the back are much less in number than the original pads and fitting is a challenge. I might grab these to see if they slide in easier.

Do the ZMF pads fit well?

Stock tuning is better than the HE1000se. But that’s it. Only a tuning difference. Apart from that. Soundstage, imaging, layering, separation, resolution/clarity etc felt the same.

I upgraded the pads on my HE1000se to ZMF perf lambskin, used Oratorys 1990s EQ. Fine tuned it. Sorry HE1000 Unveiled. The price jump is not worth it. I feel they do nothing better technicaly compared to the HE1000se apart from tuning. Great headphone. But people will start to hear that with EQ on HE1000se, you basically can get the same thing the Unveiled does

They are doing everything a bit better than the SE (and I did not find basses are worse like I read here and there). Voices are so good, even with females voices (a bit more difficult with the SE sometimes). Instruments are better positionned and not stretched. All is a bit more natural. I love these headphones. SE is good too, but to me it is a bit better overall. Deserve a listening.
